Ancestor Poem x2

This is my ancestor poem that I created on pic monkey. Hope you
enjoy it!

My Ancestry Poem

Use this framework to help you write your poem.

  • Identify who you are (your gender): Your culture.
  • Share two meaningful things about your culture that you are proud of.
  • Mention how the decisions of your ancestors help shape who you are today. Use poetic language to describe this - remember to express your critical thinking!
  • Paint a picture of the past using your five senses:  e.g. hearing the beat of drums or the scraping the coconut with the hakalo (Tongan tool for coconut scraping).  Feeling the weight of the water as the paddle moves through it - as your ancestors make their way to a new land...
  • Look into your future - where will you be, and will your ancestors be happy you are there? What do your ancestors mean to you as you move into your own pathway?

  • Include:  Alliteration, onomatopoeia, metaphors, similes and rhyme (if appropriate).
  • You can include some cultural words and phrases.

Example of ancestral poems

Sentence starters:

  • I am... (Only allowed to use this twice in poem).
  • We are our ancestors...
  • Our forefathers and foremothers live within us...
  • Our drums echo ancestral heartbeats...
  • My ancestors live in me...
  • I can hear/smell/feel/see...
  • In the future...
  • The future...
  • I take my ancestors with me...

Put your poem together!

Alipate Sukulu
a turanga, a cauravou, a tama
Strong he stands a farmer in sawani
A proud pacific islander he made me be
He rests up in lomalagi looking upon us
My ancestor lived by a waterfall.

The clashing of the waterfall was music too my ears
Moving my hands towards the waterfall felt like little drops of  my  ancestors tears falling on too my hand.

The scent of the trees was my ancestors  fresh  and cleansing smell
The movement of the waterfall was like how fast my ancestor cut down all the cassava sticks with his machete knife.

I could not see my ancestor but I can still see him in my heart,
My ancestors will be in my heart when I will be working as a pilot flying over the earth’s atmosphere soaring like an eagle with wings wide open flying across the ocean which my ancestors swam and fished in for their kakana.

Reflection of Aspiration and Inspirations

P
What were the positive things you learnt throughout Aspirations and Inspirations?
What positive skills have you developed?
What positive ideas do you have about your aspirations and inspirations?
M
What were the minuses about aspirations and inspirations?
What do you wish you had thought about more?  Had more practice on?  Got an opportunity to do?
I
What are some of the interesting things you have learnt throughout our topic Aspirations and Inspirations?

  • I have learnt what I want to be when I grow up that is being a pilot.
  • I got to meet new people.
  • I met Maria Hunt who was a chief that came in to tell us some tips about being a chief.
  • I go to meet John-Mea-Brown who is a policeman and came to our classroom too tell us some tips
  • I got to learn about what people want to become when they grow up.
  • We got too think of what we want to become in the future.
  • I learnt that you have too always have a backup job.
  • We can start to really think of what we want to become in the future.
  • We have too be prepared for our dream job.

  • The thing I thought that sucked was that a pilot didn't come in too speak to us.
  • We didn't get too meet a lot of people.
  • We are still young we can still could change our minds later of what we want to be.

  • The interesting thing was learning about aspirations and inspirations.
  • We learnt about other peoples dream job.
  • Learning new things.
  • The people that came in too speak to  us left us really god quotes.

Reflection.

Through this section of aspirations and inspirations I thought the positives were I meeting Maria Hunt who is a chief that came in to tell us some tips about how to  be a chief. The other thing is we got too think of what we want to become in the future, which is really good so we can be organized and got to meet John-Mea-Brown who is a policeman and came to our classroom too tell us some tips of being a policeman.

The things I thought that was not good with aspiration and inspiration was that a pilot didn't come in too speak to us. The other thing is that we didn't get too meet a lot of people. The last thing is that we are still young we  still young and we could change our minds later of what we want to be when we grow up.

The things things I thought That was interesting about aspiration and inspections  are learning about aspirations and inspirations. We learnt about other peoples dream job and people that came in too speak to us left us really good quotes
